Shae's Friendship bench

I was honored to be asked to speak at the dedication of our very own Sol Survivor, Shaelyn Simi's friendship bench at her school in Meridian, ID.  As you may recall, I posted awhile back about Shaelyn and her story.  Shaelyn is a Stage 3 melanoma warrior!  This little girl and her family amaze me with their strength and have already touched so many lives with their story.

Shaelyn collaborated with the Red Fred Project to write a children's book, a project that encompasses 50 chronically ill children from 50 different states.  Shaelyn's family decided that the proceeds from her book sales would go to creating a friendship bench at Shae's school.  They asked me to be the guest speaker at the dedication.  We also had a black balloon release (black is the color of melanoma) to celebrate Shaelyn's fight and life, and kick off melanoma month in May!

Keep Hope Alive

I have always believed that if you give up hope, you give up your will to live, and life will slip away from you.  Hope is everything!

Support group

Our support group is ever growing!  This month's support group meeting might have been our biggest and it was so great to have many of our Sol-mates there.  I love the diversity of our group and the different stories, but mostly, I love and cherish the connection and friendship that we share.

Sol-mates for life!
