Life as we know it

Ok, ok, I have been a slacker lately at writing. But it's been super-duper crazy lately with summer winding down and school starting and the blog has taken a back seat. I have been catching up though, so read on to hear the latest happenings! I promise it's good stuff! ;)

For now, life is pretty good. Not without significant stress though. But all in all, I can't complain too much because I know life could be much worse. What makes me happiest is spending time with my family. Like for example, we had a little get-away last weekend to the mountains with some friends. We went to the Sawtooth Mountains, a couple hours from us, and enjoyed the sereness of the mountains, fresh air, and cooler temperatures. I am always happiest when I am in nature. All my stresses and cares just float away for the time being...

Please continue reading, I want to know that people still read this blog and follow my journey (and I'm not just talking to myself here! ;). It motivates me to keep going and helps me know that people still care...OH, and please comment because I know that most of you don't and your comments always make my day!!! ;)

HI Christina~ Your blog is beautiful. I just read a lot of it and wanted to respond. I heard a sermon last weekend that talked about suffering and how we cope with it. The main message was that no matter what suffering we are experiencing, God will always bring joy THROUGH the suffering. The suffering may still be there, but there will always be joy shining through it. I can see how that is true for you and your experiences over the past year.

It makes sense that at times you feel alone even though your support system is HUGE. This is your fight, your cancer, your scans, your results...your LIFE. Know that God is always with you. Keep praying, stay faithful, stay strong. :) You are an inspiration to many!

Christina,

I live in Oak Island, North Carolina. I am a patient at Duke. I see Dr. Nelson and Dr. Tyler. I go every 3 months for a check up. It has been 2 years since my stage 2 diagnosis and 10 years since my original diagnosis of Malignant Melanoma in situ. My first melanoma was on my arm and my second on my upper back. I am currently NED. You are such an inspiration to me and everyone. Thank you for sharing your battle with me. It is nice to know that there is someone else out there that feels the same way I do. I know what it is like to smile and act like it okay for everyone when sometimes you are so scared of what the next ache, pain, or test will show. When I get anxious I try to remember Deuteronomy 31:8; The Lord Himself goes before you and will never leave you; He will never forsake you. Do not be afraid; Do not be discouraged.

Heather,

I love that scripture, thank you for sharing! It's nice to know that there are people out there that truly understand what you are going through. I am glad to know that you are NED 10 years out--that is very hopeful and I just hope I am around to "claim" that someday as well!
